2018 saw the end of FX’s brilliantly written, acted, directed and timely series The Americans. Set during the the peak of the US/USSR espionage war, Philip and Elizabeth Jennings are two KGB agents hiding in plain sight. As they raise their American-born children in D.C., they conduct secret missions to obtain information to send back to Moscow. Tensely-acted and breathtakingly real – it is one of the best series of the 00s. Matthew Rhys and Keri Russell deserved more than what the Emmys decided to toss them this year.
